you need to contact O2 and ask them if they do news group? if not then this is why you cant connect mate.

excuse the noob question, but from what im reading about newsgroups you dont need to upload like torrent files is this right, im begining to download a lot of xbox games at the moment and uploading my ratio is getting a pain in the a**e at times, been using torrents for years now but have been looking to change to something else, newsgroups seem a good option, but will have to read a bit more into it i suppose

I have been using newsgroups for years now, i have never looked back, full speeds so on a 20mb line i get about 4.5gb of data in approx 40mins, the only way you give back is if you upload nzbs to a nzb site or you can upload your own stuff if wanted.

I've been using newsgroups a few years now too. Great speeds and no upload. I'm with astraweb at the moment which I think is $39 per quarter for unlimited usage. This used to be great when the dollar was weak but its pretty much on par with the other providers now.
I would also add that once you download always use abgx to double check the the stealth on the iso file. I almost always find I need to repair them.

i use newsdemon at ?3.44 for 30gigs a month. Use a free trial and have a read around. The par files threw me off at first but its easy when you get your head round it.

You can get free usenet access any day of the week, from pretty much any ISP, even from VM, if your ISP has its own .news server (and prettymuch all of them do) then you can get on usenet with it.

I use Newsleecher as my news reader. Though I say you can get on for free, you always get what you pay for...or what you DONT pay for. free news servers from ISPs and other sourses are horrid things.

Its always best to pay, and ALWAYS pay for SSL on your server to keep what you download encrypted and private from snoops on the lines. I personally use giganews Diamond account with SSL. I get 60mb/s speed from this service and full unlimited downlaods, I often DL more then 2tb a month (over 2048Gig a month)

...giganews isnt the cheapest around, but its by far the very best, over a year retention of files, i share with a mate of mine and we both pay half each month.
