    Playing divx on banned 360

    Hi,

I had a rrod 360 given to me after the I fixed it I found out that it's banned from live, you need to download the player update to play avi/divx etc from MS to the hard drive so it will encode the video files...
As it's banned I'm unable to do this, is there anyway around this ? I downloaded the files onto the hardrive from an unbanned console but it can only be used on the cosole that the update was downloaded to..

Cheers in advance for any help...

brass neck it and call MS support, tell em you've bought a unit off ebay and for some reason its been banned.

act as thick as two planks and when asked for any real details like serial numbers and such tell em "your not good with technical stuff." and ask them to guide you through things.

the worst they can do is tell you no.

Why is that? You don't need live to put the xbox on your network for media center or tversity.

you will still need to have the codec updated onto the xbox through xbl though if you want to stream to xbox

No you don't, thats why you are transcoding. It is taking the divx file or whatever and then re-encoding it in real time to a format which the xbox can play.
An example is .ts files. The xbox does not support these but you can use wmc or tversity to stream them.
