xbox saying play dvd with game in??

just had to buy another drive for my xbox was second hand the lad who i got it of swears its fully working it came out of a knackred jtag console

now ive checked the drive and its same make and model dg-16d4s

ive changed the pcb board of mine to the one i bought but every time i put a game in all i get is play dvd

ive cleared cache on my hard drive ect.. still nothing ive tried updating xbox software via usb but when i restart console it doesnt even ask to update

coulod the reason be that it was a flashed console it came from and mine has not been flashed

i have noticed that the new drive has fw version 0225 and my old drive was 9504 could this be reason

does this say play dvd with all ur games or just the one?

why not try ur game on another console to verify its not the disc at fault

you could try pot tweaking the drive as sometimes it will fix the read errors

You need to hook up both PCBs to Jungleflasher to check FW versions match.

Some 0225 drives were marked up 9504, but 9504 was updated to 0272, so really, yes, you need to hook up to jungleflasher ensuring both PCB fw match.

This could also be a laser/burn quality issue
