I've looked in the RROD thread above, but can't find anything to do with just one red ring. I've got a 360 from a friend of mine who has the technical ability of a chimp, and they've asked if I can have a look for them.
The code given (when holding the sync, eject button) is 1022, which I believe to be a problem with the ANA / HANA chip. I've seen a couple of things on the net about gutting the system and getting a heat gun on the ANA chip to re-ball the solder - apparently lead free solder is used in these things which is a bit crap.
Anyway, here's the thing. The 360 has a manufacture date of 27-08-07, so it's only two years old... do you think it's still under the warranty? And if so, will MS fix anything less than a 3 red light situation?
I don't really want to go taking it apart and messing around with it if MS will fix it. If they won't however, and the 360's been reduced to as much use as a paper weight, then I'll get playing and see what I can do!
