    Hitachi 47 problem

    Heres the dilemma.

When i boot the into Jungleflasher it is recognized.

When i click mode b nothing happens JF freezes.

Done this a few times and eventually the drive was recognized in the tray at the top right.

Tried to flash back to stock as i need to spoof this as liteon but it hung again.

Been trying for a few hours now to no avail.

This is the first Hitachi i have had probs with.

    Anyone have any ideas?

hi try disabling the sata drivers there not needed. if its a via card you are using it freezes because it is looking for a device and cant find it because it is being wiped i think

Thanks mate. It is a via card that i have but i have never had to disable the drivers with any other hitachi samsung etc.

      This is a strange one.

      I have tried almost everything.

Funny though the drive is not recognized in windows when i plug onboard sata. Something must be up with the drive?

But with it being recognized in JF as the drive it is then that makes me think the drives fine.?

Does the drive still respond via the eject button, if not then the drive is bricked. You dont have to remove the VIA Drivers for any other drive other than a liteon.

If the drive still responds then try slax method to mode B and not jungleflashers.

Again Via Drivers DO NOT HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR HITACHI DRIVES.

Quoted from the guide you mention that can be found on here and jungleflasher.net

Overview. Hitachi drives are completely different in the way and which they are modded. We modify Hitachis on a sector by sector basis. JungleFlasher can be used over Windows API or PortIO. PortIO functionality was added for VIA 6421 Sata users who removed drivers to hack the Lite-On drives without freezing issues. To enable PortIO usage, check VIA Ports Only under DVDKey 32 tab. WinAPI should used where possible, although WinAPI requires the drive to be assigned a drive letter, this isnt possible with a VIA 6421 with Drivers Removed. Regardless of option chosen, the Hitachi Drive must still be in ModeB, this is essential to be assigned a drive letter in Windows, for using WinAPI, but, also vital for PortIO users as most dump and flash commands require it.
VIA users with no drivers, must either install drivers or utilise PortIO – you will not be assigned a drive letter in windows with no drivers!!! To enable PortIO usage, check VIA Ports Only under DVDKey32 tab
JungleFlasher uses a unique way of calculating the checksum of the firmware and JungleFlasher will also take over from the user as soon as possible to prevent user error, its not necessary to dump the drive to patch the firmware, JungleFlasher will dump before you try to do anything to the drive. JungleFlasher also incorporates a “Stability Test” prior to modifying the drive, as safety is paramount.
Windows API Users, after setting ModeB, you must wait for hardware changes to be detected (15 secs) If nothing is detected, click “Refresh”

Use this method until you reach the firmwre tool box and use jungleflasher.
Set mode B By slax with xbox under own power.
Boot pc from slax, setting mode B
Reset pc to windows and use jungleflasher.

                Right quick update.

Managed to get the drive flashed/spoofed through jungleflasher.

Wasnt JF or drivers just my old pc.

Sorted it on my other machine.

                Although it still doesnt eject.

Looks like there is a problem elsewhere as when i manually eject and place a disk in as soon as i power it up on the xbox the tray goes in and it boots the game.

Only thing is it wont eject again.

Think the motor is likely to be away on the drive.

                Will test tomorrow with multimeter.

                The drive is old 2005.

Yeah does sound like so m8. Thing is with hitachis if you get a bad write while flashing them, there is only 1 way to recover the drive and thats via de-soldering the flash chip and re-programming exrternally.

On the old machine m8 i would be tempted to do a complete format, i have had issues with jf freezing up with liteon drives while reading from the R707 an this seems to have cleared it for now.
