update via a downloaded game

i've got my 360 flashed last year copied all my games and also downloaded a few then today i was given a downloaded game when i put the game into my 360 boots up as usual then say i can't play game until update should i do the update or will this break my 360 ??? or is there any othere way of updating ?

I will second that was a bit dubious myself thought i might screw it up and be left unable to play my legitametly backed-up games heheh
But all was fine..

yer you will be ok ,ive done many game updates and all been fine using flashed 360
