I THINK I BRICKED MY BENQ!!

OK so I searched for 2 days over the net for a solution and didn't find any so I decided to post.

OK so everything's fine I connect my VAD6038 to my 6421. I use dosflash32 to create my orig.bin then I use firmtools to create my hacked firmware. I boot up dosflash32 again I Erase my drive's firmware and then when I'm about to write my hacked firmware on it the program FREEZES! And now everytime I connect my drive to the pc my pc freezes! I can't open my drive at all and when I try to write the firmware with dosflash16 in manual mode it returns with an error! I still have my orig.bin so is there a way I can fix this or am i Screwed?

I recently made a guide on this exect situation. No your not screwed and is easy enough to fix.

Create a usb boot device (flash drive) with win 98 boot files.
Copy over dosflash and dosflash.type. Also copy your CFW over.
When your at the A: prompt, type dosflash, this will list all drives on pc, Yours wont be able to identify. Hit y and then it will keep trying to put it into vendor mode.
POwer cycle the drive, and you should get status 0x73.
Will ask you what you want to do?
Hiw W, it will then ask for firmware file name, type name of firmware (usually benq_cfw.bin) hit return and watch your drive being flashed, all 4 banks.

        Any more help pm me.

No soft fix for any Hitachi drives, chip has to be removed and reprogrammed

                  No i meant status 0x73.

I think the vendor mode statuses are

                  Benq - 0x73
                  Samsung - 0x70
                  Liteon - 0x72

But i have heard of writes to drives with differant statuses other than the ones above.

/You should of hit Write in the 1st place rather than erase, write would of taking care of erasing and flashing at the same time, the freezing is caused by via drivers polling an erased drive.
