Im trying to flash a Lit-on 7485 and I have read the tutorials regarding VIA drivers and how to remove them. however, when I do remove them I cant find my sata drive or talk to it. I have installed portIO32 and it seems to have installed properly but it doesnt act as a driver for my sata PCMICA card.

The only point you need to uninstal the drivers are when you come to flash the drive thro jungleflasher. Once you have obtained the 4 files from jungleflasher you can create your cfw and flash via dos.

Yes. You only need to uninstal the drivers when erasing a liteon drive due to them causing the liteon freeze.

I have never removed the drivers due to doing liteon drives through dos. All other drives flash ok through jungleflasher.

If you remove the drivers after obtaining files through jungleflasher then just remember the port number that the drive is connected to.

I have a laptop and when I boot up in dos it doesn't see the sata drives. I have extracted the keys from the box using jungle flash and tried a dosflash.

I'm now trying to replace the vsmraid.sys with a universal ata driver. Will post update when complete.

            Ok then.

Reinstal via drivers.#Hook drive upto laptop.
            Power up and launch jungleflasher.
Scroll though drives on ports until drive is found.
Write down your port address of the drive.
            Disable drivers in device manager.
Scroll to driver location and delete vmraid.sys.
Enable device in device manager and reboot.
Once all loaded back up, open jungleflasher, goto mtk tab and goto port of the drive u wrote down.
Click liteon erase once you have loaded up your firmware in the firmware tab.
Once clicked on liteon erase then follow the oncreen instructions.

Before doing the above then i suggest that you fully read the jungleflasher guide to ensure your doing it correctly.

            Guide located here : http://jungleflasher.net/files/JungleFlasher.pdf

Tried that numerous times. When I run jungle flash with the drivers disabled it doesn't see the I/O port that my dvd is on?

I've now opened jungle flash and done a Lite-On erase which returned a 0x72 status which should be correct. I then clicked on the write button and it returned Unknown flash type Write aborted...... does anyone know what this means

i have found that when flahing a liteon drive using jungleflasher it froze when writing. this was because i left the drive open. now, you need the drive open to extract the key using the probe. after the key is obtained, close the drive tray and carry on as normal, erase and write.

                    to braindead -
when i have got the "unknown flash type write aborted" message in the past, i have had to do an erase again and power off to drive in 1 sec then try a write again.

                    NOTE :
please write down the drive key on paper just in case and save it to file.

                    hope this helps
