I am a NOOB: cant play games says play dvd flashed with 1.51

So I bought this 360 off my friend a few months ago and have been having trouble playing some burnt games...i can play cod 5 guitar hero world tour but not gh:metallica and some newer games... I have no idea why its doing this I had an flashed xbox before this one with 1.51 ixtreme and it played games fine til it got fried.

I know this has prolly been posted a million times but I could not find a post similar enough to my proble.

I think mine has a benq drive and is flashed with 1.51. Also i have no idea what wave 3 or 4 is nor do i know how to patch games (i can download and burn games) so if there is a guide out there please let me know, its much appreciated.

If it's saying 'play dvd' then it sounds like you need activate.iso disc to perform one-off boot before you put your game disc in.

check out threads on playing wave 4 games with activate.iso for the instructions how to burn one.

Sorry that didn't work. From reading around other threads the advice is that you need ixtreme 1.6 firmware on a BenQ drive to play wave 4 games (which is what the newer games are).

Perhaps you should flash it with the latest ixtreme then try again.

ok it dont have a benq its a samsung drive...does that make a difference?

Also where can I find info/checklist of everything I need to re-flash my xbox and how much will this cost?

See this tread: 1.61 for benq & samsung drives.wave 4 (in this forum). there u will find a link to the latest firmware 4 your samsung drive.

There are full instructions in the sticky's and lots of videos to tell u how to do it, but if u have not done this before perhaps u should look 4 someone in your area who has experience of flashing drives. Sorry, there is no easier fix 4 you.
