saw this off another forum regarding the new mw 2 thats been doing the rounds

will be safer to use the standalone one since apparently (haven't had confirmation yet) they have logged the serial number of every special edition xbox, so if you use the special edition game in a normal xbox, they know you have a copy ... simple math really, plus the date on the special edition pack is earlier.
If its true then there will be thousands of 360's biting the dust as soon as they go on live I wouldn't put a wave 4 game near my 360 until its been figured out how m$ are detecting naughtiness.

It has nothing to do with COD Mod 2 and nothing to do with wav 4 as my mate had none of these games. I only posted him up to wav 3.

So something else is causing it.

The cause is going online its just how the crafty gits are detecting it.

Apparently a previous system update installed a file deep within the achievement section to record all games that had been played that had indeed been patched and played before there release dates, therefore the latest update oct 09 as reported this back to xbox, therefore the bans that are happening. I myself don't use live and won't with my flashed xbox, so when i needed to play new wave 4 games, it would not let me play them as it kept saying i needed to do the latest update, but because the game was patched, the wave 4 update would not install,(something new they have added). So i had to borrow my m8's hard-drive, which was tottaly up to date and as soon as i attached it to my xbox the update performed and after putting my hard-drive back on, all my patched wave 4 games work perfectly. oh yeah and my xbox as firmware 1.4 and indeed it is a samsung drive.

From all that I have read, and stories of friends locally being banned over the past couple of days, it seems clear now that MS are detecting all flashed drives (irrespective of make/model/firmware) and banning them from live.

I think people need to understand that from now on you cannot go in live with a flashed box. If you want to play on live then the firmware needs to be flashed back to its original state.

The new ban wave has nothing to do with playing games online before their release.

                              THE TRUTH
                              The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.
