2 red lights on xbox

    2 red lights on xbox

    hi guys i have an original 360 thats packed in when u switch it on it starts up then you get the two red lights and the fans stop. i have put rubbers over the four chips but still no joy. anything else i could try?

    Its dead mate. And if its older than 1 years old Ms wont cover it under warrenty.
    Mine did it. I tried everything. Xclamp, towl trick. I even tried to overheat it so it got 3 red lights but it just keeps switching off.

    I think the main GPU dies.

      update on my issue i took off the clamp and the big heatsink put new paste on it reattached the heatsink and clamp and no more red lights but i now have no video output. i know the lead is fine because it works on my other xbox could it be the other chip under the other heatsink?

        hi guys i have managed to get the xbox working but the display isnt correct im getting lines across the screen.

          This is a graphics chip problem as mention above mate.

          Chip is probably damaged.

          Non repairable.

            a proper reflow might fix it.
            the original problem is the heatsinks not sitting on the chips right (the thermal paste goes brittle).
            thats why when u took the heatsink off the cpu and renewed the paste it worked.
            your new problem now is the gpu thats at fault.
