    the hitachi model is gdr-3120l rom ver 0047dj. when u power the xbox up the drive powers up u see the laser light up when u try to open it xbox flashes as normal but pc freezes up.

      the hitachi drive that wasnt opening has started opening again after i took it apart and put it back together.

        So you have both drives working now?
        You'll just need to spoof the drives now if thats the case.

          both drives r workin but dont need to spoof any drive the hitachi drive that was sticking i put it back into its console and worked. all i have now is the xbox freezing which is a different issue.

            Does it look anything like this when it freezes?



            If it does mate you could be looking at a potential RROD issue.

              no it doesnt mate i had the rrod then i had it working started playing army of two got 15 mins in and it frooze

                Sounds like its still the RROD errror mate. The fix isn't a permanant solution, can come back at anytime.

                It sounds like when its getting hot its overheating and freezing which is what the xbox does with the RROD.

                Did you overheat your 360 on purpose after installing the repair kit? to re-flow the solder joints?

                  i took off the heatsink added new compound put the clamps back on overheated it let it cool then reconnected the fan and it started working ive already got the bits of rubber over the 4 chips

                    And its started freezing up again?
                    Sounds like you fixed it for abit but the RROD error is still there and will eventually come back.
                    The only real fix is sending it back to MS or buying a newer console.

                    The RROD fix is a temp. fix.

                        No mate, people have varied results, I fixed my old machine and it lasted another 8 month before packing in.

                        But to be honest there's no permanent fix, the washes and stuff go a little way but once you have RROD it'll come back again to haunt you.
