can u take a Hitachi DVD tray and replace it into a lite-on drive?

only asking cause i have a banned Hitachi box which i don't use, and my kid has snapped off the lite-on DVD tray, and just want to know if i can just replace the one with the other, even though they are different drive manufactures?

No you can't do such a thing, you could if there is still power to the lite-on get the drive key from it and flash it in the hitachi and spoof the drive which would make the lite-on console think its a lite-on.

Easiest thing to do would be to buy another lite-on from ebay, open the back and swap the PCB boards over.
