Ok here we go in a nut shell,personally i have decided that waitng for the 1.7 firmware is a waste of time, for myself anyway ,i dont go online (no intentions of going live )microshaft gets enough money off folks,in have a philips /liteon drive and currently on firmware 1.5 i think,what is the best way to go to play these wave 4/5 games would prefer it without the boot disc but if thats what it takes so be it,i just wanna play mw2 i hear about patching the iso to lower waves!wtf is that? ..what should i do...

In all honesty, its upto you. Personally i am waiting for new firmware also so we can go back online, i have heard it wont be too much longer now.

I read today few more test on the lite touch fw but again this could be wrong.

So i am just gonna carry on playing offline until new fw hits, hopefully this side of christmas.

Lot easier to upgrade the drive to 1.6 and use a boot disk.

But if you want to patch the games down rememeber when new firmware is out if you do want to go online you will have to do the games again.

I forgot to mention, if you do patch the games down to wave 2/3 then they wont work in another console on 1.6 fw unless they use the boot disc.

I would just do a quick update to 1.6 then to the new lite touch when its finally released. As cgscott said this is the easiest method.
