Clear up my confusion about wave 4 please...

I have had my xbox flashed for ages now (about 2-3 years). I dont know what version of the firmware it was flashed with, but its a samsung drive. It was banned from XBL about 6 months after flashing (i didnt really care i now have a seperate xbox for that)

Games have worked perfectly since i got it flashed and i havent tried a wave 4 game yet. Does the whole "wave 4" thing stop your xbox from being able to play wave 4 games completely? or does it just mean that it makes people who havent been banned from XBL at risk?

I have never flashed an xbox before, amd would like to avoid having to do it if possible because i fear i will kill the poor thing

Firmware is updated which allows games to be played.

Try a Wav 4 game and see if it works. If you want to go online you would have to have the latest firmware.

If not then if your box plays wav 4 happy days if not you will need to upgrade the drive.

Ok Do wave 3 games work? As it was flashed 2 - 3 years ago, wave 3 was not about then, if they work then chances are that you have a non stealthed firmware on your drive that does not check the discs for stealth.

So just try them and see how you go. Samsung drives are easily flashed to latest firmware. If the games boot then it dont matter about reflashing as your banned off of XBL.

ok thanks i will try it when my discs arive. is the activate disc an alternative to updating the drive? meaning will it work on any drive, and any firmware?

I have never found a game so far that hasnt worked. and i have played games such as red faction, gta 4, fifa 10 etc (im not sure which games are wave 3 just thought they might be).
If they arent wave 3 can you think of any off the top of your head that are big games that i would probably have played? (just so i know if wave 3 games work)

Download and set the program up and run discs thro to determin exact info of your back ups.

in that case, red faction is wave 3...and that worked perfectly. Fingers crossed wave 4 will work too

Looking more like a non stealthed firmware on the drive. Try wave 4 game, or even wave 5 (Left 4 Dead 2).

As your banned from live then no point in updating firmware if they load.

i down loaded left 4 dead 2 and says i need to update i can play wave 4 if i update to play wave 5 will i still be able to play wave 3 wave 4 also i have not been on live yet at all what would haopen if i went on live is there away of doing it with out getting banned

Yes it will work.

The only way to check to see if the game is ok to go online is to verify with ABGX.
