DVD drive ID from software ?

Hello peeps, gotta 360 coming this christmas, had modding in-mind when chosing what to ask santa for

Ive been doing lots of reading about the whole scene for a couple of weeks now but i got 1 question..

Is there a way to tell my Drive vendor/firmware without opening up the Xbox ? This way i can be fully armed with the tools i need plus a plan of attack before i go ordering the bits.

You can check by pulling the face off the front and checking the wires.

The best option is to buy a ck3 kit. This is the best i think to use with any drive. Samsung, benq, HItachi and Liteon 7.

Now if your console is new and the manufacture date of the console is April 2009 + then you may run into a few prolems as these consoles contain the new 8 and 9 series drives.

That noted when you get your christmas present. Check the back of the console for 12.1A. This will definetly have the new drives in it.

You should wait until the LT firmware is released as well.
The ixtreme firmware can be detected now.

truthfully mate your best option is to get the key read and buy a xternal 360 drive that way then iff u can get the warenty sticker off with out busting u can still be covered iff any problems persist
