What about bans for hard-mods ?

I know the recent ban waves have been speculated to be caused by MS working out what peeps are using modified firmware.... but what about people with hard-mod chips who still have the original drive firmware intact.

Anyone with a chip got a ban ?

Hardware mods just let you run multiple kernel versions, its essentialy just another easily flashable nand and a switch to allow you to swap between the two.

Its only to allow the jtag hack to still operate in most cases. To allow certain tools to be executed on the system.

The mod (cygnos360) allows you to have a regular unmodded xbox and a homebrew machine at the flip of a switch. Kinda the same as the chips back in the old xbox days, with the caveat that they wont let you run pirate games on their own without further modification.

So as you can see its an entirely different kettle of fish and in order to run "backups" you would still need to flash your drive.

The only people really effected by the ban are people playing backups because they would still need to run custom firmware.
