Hope this is of some help to someone. A friends xbox 360 had the red ring of death, so i told him to check his receipt as the repair would be covered from date of purchase. 3 year period had expired in novemeber when checking receipt.On the off chance I told him to drop it off and i went to this site Xbox.com | Official Xbox 360 UK | Customer Support and registered box as it had never been live and Warranty Expiration was 3/21/2010. Sent box off for him and today a brand new box was returned.
Moral of the story is dont go by date on reciept, enter console details on xbox support forum and go from there.
