xbox 360 drive wont read disks

last night i was playing on my games fine when i got up and put it on it wont spin the disk up to read after about 30 trys it finally reads it and it reads a dvd video perfect.
my warranty has run out from microsoft anyone got any ideas how i can sort it without going out and buying a new drive

its same prob on all disks apart from a dvd movie even tried reflashing it to see if that was the fault and it still same

the drive wil prob need pot calibration/laser replacement. Get urself a new drive, be easier in long run.

BTW What drive is it?

its a liteon 74850c,how much will a new one be

CAn get a nice new benq off flea bay for ?20 but if you dont have a 'donar drive' to test with we are only offering blind advice, i could be wrong!

My sons 360 just says ' open Tray' when he puts a game in,was working ok yesterday ,its out of warranty do you have to take out the dvd drive to find out what make it is .
The xbox is not modded in any way.
Any help would be appreciated

You can tell by opening the tray of the drive. But you will have to open it to find out what revision it is

Hi all i have the same problem and i was going to replace the drive, but on other sites they say the xbox will get banned if the dvd drive is spoofed.
but would this still happen if i replace the key only with FW toolbox and keep it as stock and not spoofed.

your "spoofing" the drive either way unless the drive model is the same (example ms28 -> ms28)

there is no proof at all that they can detect a spoofed firmware, in fact i would be more worried about the actual hacked firmware than the spoof...as when they do eventually ban (and they will, not matter how "safe" it is) it will be everyone, not just spoofed drives.
