Made an a*se of my first 83850c v1 can it be fixed

right cunny m8 pull me out a hole

Hi peeps, got my first XBOX 83850C v1 to flash, having done some benq and the last lite-on with the probe i though, no probs, well ive made a bit of a hash of it and want to know if its recoverable, hooked up everything as normal, drive noticed in JF then noticed i'd to press lo83 info, did this then it asked me to power the drive half open, so i opened my drive then, and i think this is where i went wrong, i pressed the ok button b4 setting the tray to half open, so i just got the flashing lights on start button and the drive would not eject and was no longer recognised in JF, i've never had this happen in previous versions but im sure it was recoverable then, what i want to know is how/if i can get the drive back, any help much appreciated, its my nephews and he just got it at xmas, so im in deep sh*t

only way to recover mate iff you do not have the key is to jtag the motherboard or i think there is a service recovery that specialize in pcbs

If the drive is not responding at all then its gonna be bricked xbox if you dont have a good dump. It sounds like you have manged to erase the drive somehow.
If you dont have the dump from the drive then its either a jtag as t2p said, from there you can access the nand. I have no experience of this at all.

I think there is a mod chip out that will accept various 'key' that could be another option.

I made a post not too long back on this http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...bricked-61536/

Other than those, its not good news. If you have a dump of the drive your ok

The reason you need a dump off the original drive is that the nand will only accept a certain dvd key. We take that key off the drive, spoof it into a cunstom firmware thats how it works.

You dont have that key, so you either need to access that key or fool the nand into any key.

If you buy a drive off ebay you will still need that key for it to work. If you get the key by jtag or chip, you can add that to the cfw.

Does the drive respond in any manner, ie eject, if done from 360 do you get e64 error

nope no response at all, surely i couldnt have erased the drive just by pressing ok at that point in the proccess, could i?, its a strange 1, as i said done a few of the older 1's but this is my first of this version, and the first time anythings gone wrong

Yes mate it is possible.. If you get no response whatsoever and the drive cannot be seen in JF after reeboot etc then its most likely erased. You can recover it in dos but its basically a dvd player without the key for the xbox.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Only option now is to get the Nand chip tagged and read.

The drive could only be recovered if he had the original dump from the drive.

Which he stated he does not.

Answer to your question tommy im sure if you had a good look around in your area mate someone would be able to offer some sort of service to extract the key or change the key on the motherboard.

It may cost you a few quid but its better than having a ?120 dvd player in the house.

Hope you manage to get the drive fixed

If you want to JTAG it yes. But if you want to flash the drive to play copies then you have no problem.

Jtag is a hack that allows you to modify features on the dashboard and a lot more.

Flashing the drive simply lets you play backup games.

Is it in the same condition? If so, do you know the version of the dash thats on the xbox? If its not an expliotable dash then there is little we can do. You need access to either the key vault or the original drive firmware for the key to pair with the motherboard.

Maybe a mod chip to bypass this is out.
