New to xBox Modding/Copying games etc.

Hi all,

I've recently bought a modded xbox from a friend in work. It's been banned from Xbox live due to it being modded (I'm not bothered about this as I dont play online).
I've tried burning a game last night (Need for speed shift), I have a dual layer dvd writer, I burnt the iso using MagicIso, 30mins later, popped it into my xbox, but nothing happened, it just returned to the screen that says 'Eject Tray'. Im guessing I've done something wrong... He gave me 4 games with the Xbox (all copies) so I know it plays them...

Any ideas where I'm going wrong? I'm guessing this isnt the same process of burning Iso's like on a PC!!

Could be that the firmware on the xbox is old and needs to be updated in order to play newer games.

Pretty much is the same a burning an iso although there is a layer break in the dual layer.

Use IMGburn to burn then as this will set the layer break auto.

I think it most probably be the drive needs updated to play newer games.

Does this mean just updating the Dashboard? Or does it actually mean updating the firmware?

I have a LiteOn drive. Dont really know much else I'm afraid, which I appreciate isnt very help for you!

The liteon would need updated to the latest frimware.

You could do this in Jungleflasher.

Have a read on how to extract the key from the liteon via extract dummy from ixtreme.

Then reflash the liteon with the latest firmware which is LT.

I had a look at this website:

It seems like a really long process, plus I dont have the "Probe" it talks about...

Is there any other way?

You dont need to probe it as you said it already plays backup games.

As i said the tutorials at the top especially the Jungleflasher Tutorial will explain how to extract dummy from Ixtreme (which your drive will have been flashed with) and then allow you to upgrade the firmware.

I reckon 1-2 hours reading and you will feel confident enough to do this yourself.

If not i would advise you to ask someone to do the upgrade for you but dont pay silly money. This process could be done in under 10 minutes (including stripping the xbox).

Yes thats the tutorial. There are instructions on how to extract from Ixtreme.

Hi cgscott.

Got home from work last night, downloaded the latest dashboard update (although I already had it installed).
Borrowed my brothers external dual layer burner, opened ImgBurn, changed the Write settings, Layer Break > User specified > 1913760
Dropped the speed of the burn down to 2x.
It completed burning... popped it into my xbox, PING! Need For Speed Shift popped up on the screen. Clicked Play Game, but I got an error message saying that the region code of my console wasn't able to play this game. My bad! I downloaded the NTSC version. Started to download the PAL copy, so I'll give that whirl tonight!

Know any decent sites you can ping me for getting games? torrents are awfully slow!

Yeah, thats the answer to every man's download problem. But I'm looking for a highly operated torrent website (i.e. torrent damage) who value their members & use strict upload/download ratio rules i.e. banned if less than 0.5 after a week.

Most of the sites I use dont upload xBox games... and if they do, theres not enough downloaders to give you back 1.0 ratio on each file.!
