    Starting at the be

    Hi all,
I've been reading threads on this site for a while now about flashing the xbox and decided that it was time to actually give it a go rather than just reading about it.

Obviously i've never done it before so i'm just looking for a little advice before starting.

Firstly I don't even have a sata card for my PC and was wondering it this one is ok? (SATA PCI Card VIA VT6421A 6421 for XBOX Flash Repairs on eBay (end time 06-Apr-10 00:47:27 BST))

Also, I have read a lot about getting banned etc. I never play online but am I right on thinking that just by signing into live you can get banned? The only thing I have ever done online is download extra content for games. Is it possible to flash the xbox back to the original firmware so that if I ever wanted to go online and get new content I could flash it back to the original and then after I have downloaded what I want just flash it back again or is that just wishful thinking?

Any other info I might need before I start is appreciated.
    Thanks for reading this!

I'm not sure how to edit my post but the thread title should read starting at the beginning.

You need to see what drive is inside the box.

Yes you can return back to stock firmware to do console updates ect (its actually recommended)

There are guide at top of the section that are usefull, feel free to post in the forum for help ect.

All recommendations come from people a bit scared of being banned.

If anything was set in stone about firmware and M$ detecting there would be no questions to the firmwares given out.

Yes we get firmware from guys that play backups. My opinion on it is like smirnoff mentioned in another thread is just use any what firmware you fell like using as long as it plays latest games

M$ are always going to be 1 step ahead.

So take the ban live with it and buy another xbox.

Bit like he said she said and over the years it has built up to such extent that everyone is shitting themselves to do anything. Even update theyre console.

I will be the first to report back after the update takes place as i am still running old firm.

        Cheers

        Chris

          Thanks for the help.

I rarely go online so i'm not too worried about being banned, as I said it's only if I ever want dlc.

I did mean to mention that my drive is a Benq as I took the face plate off earlier to check it out.

So would I be ok to get the SATA card from my post and start things going?

Thanks for the help. I will get that card and keep reading up on the whole process.

It's funny but I don't even have a dual layer burner yet to actually burn any games but i've just got sick of buying games that I play once and never touch again.

              Thanks again for the help!

EDIT: Do I need a conectivity kit? Getting a bit lost in what I actually need to have.
