xbox 360 elite keeps freezing

hi there my sons elite has been fine up until today hes turned it on started to play a game and it froze. he turned it off and then back on again the game loaded then froze.
so im not shore what it could be and it is also out of warranty so cant go back.
any sugestions would be great of what to try or could be

Is it with the same game or any game?

If it is all games then might be worth trying it without the hard drive memory module in see what happens.

The e71 and e79 error is a hardware issue related to freezing during gameplay.

If all that fails try reformatting the memory modules this may stop the issue.

have you cleaned the game disc??.

Hi i've had this fault before.Think it's woz a heat related fault,try moving the console to either vertical or horizontal position.

hi lads thanks for the help but ive just gone up there to do a couple of things that you recommened and ive turned it on and it now has 3 red lights so now even worse

Yep normally these are the signs of RROD.

Plenty of tutorials on how to fix them on here.
