Hitachi Drive wont play wave 4 and above.

Hitachi drive flashed with ix1.51 will play real games and copied gamed that are 3rd wave or below. It tries to read the newer games then goes back to 'open tray'. I know iot's not the discs coz they play fine in another box.

Is this simply a faulty drive or am I missing something?

Hitachi 1.51 is supposed be be blind FW (no stealth checks) so should boot any wave.

If this is not the case, then try going back to older firmware for the drive, avail in xbins. This should cure it, i dont recomend going on live with it tho.

Just a thought, re run your burnt discs thro ABGX see if any errors

Also try patching the video partition on wave to wave 3 or 2 see if they boot then, Try burning a wave 3 game on same brand of discs, i have found hitachi drives are tempermental more than most about brand of media used. If this is case of weak laser, a pot calibration could cure it. I would rule out everything else before attempting it tho
