Official Kinect (Natal) Price from Microsoft

    Taken from Microsoft Online shop.

Official Kinect (Natal) Price $149.99 Current exchange rate 100.773 Sterling or 121.253 EUR, of course these European prices could be rounded off along with import dutys, taxs and shipping costs.

But with the 360-Elite coming down in price along with the Arcade console Kinect or Natal will cost as much as a basic console.

They must be joking especially when consoles have to be replaced every year or so due mainly to RROD or other defects, Kinect (Natal) no doubt will have plenty of issues least of all failing miserable.

If we wanted a Wii I am sure most of us either own a Wii or would buy one.

The gaming from this will outdo the Wii 10 fold but i do think its maybe a step in the wrong direction for MS. Not sure many people will be in to the Family Gaming to be honest cant see where this would fit into xbox live. We play who we want to play and chat with who we like we dont sit and play with our familys.

We only play xbox (most of us) to divert from the family life and have a liitle time to ourselves.

I wont be buying it. Will stick to my good old RROD's that are still living on from 3 years ago.

Wont be long till we see the Family Membership introduced into the UK for as it stands in US for about ?60 quid. This to involve and try get people to buy theyre new consoles.

spot on again about family membership just read this press release

For the sum of ?69.99, you can grab a bundle of four individual Xbox Live Gold memberships, with the ability for a primary account holder to divvy out various online permissions and dispense Microsoft Points to other members. A Family Centre menu also offers a place for Family Settings and other account management.

You can also get exclusive family discounts and offers for signing up to the service too, which is nice.

This announcement follows Microsoft's recent marketing campaign to capture the mainstream audience, including families, with its Kinect motion sensing device at E3.

The Xbox Live Gold Family Pack will be available from November

Nope which is exactly why the kinect will fail.

Its a chicken and the egg scenario, developers dont want to spend a budget developing a game for something that only has an insignificant userbase, a userbase only wants to buy something that has a substantial games library.

Whats the point of me spending cash money on developing software for a device that might not make me a return on my investment?

The only way to get around it is to do exactly what Nintendo did with the WII, release motion control on day one with the unit.
This means that every person who owns the console will have the feature and developers will be more than happy to support it.

As it stands Microsoft have just dropped a bollock from developing this fairly decent and innovative hardware and expecting people to fork out for it alongside their console as an "added extra."
They should have held off and used it as a sales pitch to bolster sales for the XBOX Three/720/900 whatever they wind up calling it, this way its available on every unit and has an enticing userbase for developers to make money from.

M$ blew their load too soon on this one, The exact opposite of what they did with the Kin.
