    Problems connecting to pc

    ive got my xbox connected to my router and into the pc.it is running windows media player 11 on xp and ive set up media sharing and the xbox has a tick next to it on the sharing menu.the xbox has also been set to be dmz so the ports are open but everytime i try and select my pc through the xbox it just says
    Cant connect.Make sure you have activated this console on your computer
    Can any1 help please?

    do you have a firewall like zonealarm?
    if you do you have to give permision in zone alarm to let your xbox connect.
    also you might have to go into advanced sharing options (where the xbox has a green tick) and tell it to share everything, mp11 is set to only share media with a rating of 3 stars or above. unles you change it.
    I've also noticed with xp you sometimes need to run the network setup wizard in control panel.

      Ive got windows firewall and ive set the xbox up to be dmz on the router to allow it through.my wdtv cant see my pc either but my pc can see that.must be sumit daft stopping it

        run the home network setup wizard in control panel, for the wdtv you also need to right click on the folder with all your media in it, select properties, in the sharing tab, tick "share this folder and subfolders" and tick "alow other users to change my files". it needs read and write access or it wont connect to your network drive.
