Interesting read. I'll certainly be waiting to see what happens to other consoles first.

Not long had an xbox and frankly, i play more originals than I do copies. So would be a bit peeved if I lose live just 5 months after owning the box, but that's my own fault for modding the drive.

No one on that thread has discussed putting the firmware back to the original before doing the update?

Am I being dense here or would doing this then not report the correct information back to MS when the update was done?

Nobody knows how they detect flashed drives mate, but they recomend returning to stock BEFORE DOING ANY CONSOLE UPDATES.

I have been going on same box since 2007 so i have had a great run, thing is potentially they could ban offline boxes by doing the checks during an update.

Will see in near future how they will go about it and if LT will be detectable, a dash update was in the lines for the kinect release (obvious)

This article is sensationalistic journalism. This check has already been in the fw checks for sometime. The majority of people that will get banned will blame LT, but it will be down to other things, like not stealthing properly, or having upgraded to LT from an earlier fw.

Only in november will be able to tell, but I for one am not worried about getting banned. Another ?100 and I am back online baby.

100 a year and 40pound per game say you buy about 4games a year = 160 & 100pound

260 pound plus xbox live 300pound a year. ~~~~ that mate thats not good in the long run.

my last flashed xbox was going from 2008 till 2010 i never paid for 1 game. now that's what you call a long run.

You are either extremely drunk/stoned/high or just stupid. Its simple economics. I download on average 50 games a year, therefore that is over ?4,000 on games per year that I am saving. Therefore I can buy another xbox at ?100, and save the other ?3,900.

I think you need to re-read both my and cunnys posts, and then read what you wrote, and you will see it is your answer that makes no sense.

And finally, with the way that Live is going with having to pay for online parts of the game, then I forsee people moving away from playing on Live completely.

I'm sorry but i have only got my new xbox flashed last week. i have never used it till i got it flashed cuz i don't wanna pay 40pound 4 a game.

If its only ever had LT on it, then good chance you wont get banned. It took MS 4 years to work out how to detect IX fw, so its unlikely they have cracked LT within a few months.

If you get banned, you get banned, we all did. Its your choice then to play offline, or to get another, same as it was mine. Personally, I got another one as they are only ?100 and I was able to afford it due to the amount of money that I had saved from not buying games, therefore its economics of scale to me, I save on games, so can purchase more hardware.

As I said, if its only recently been flashed with LT, good chance is you wont be banned. And with the way that live is going, having to pay for online of games themselves, then I think live will become a ghost town, so getting banned may be a blessing in disguise in some ways. I would also say that the majority of people that got banned last november, got new xboxes so they could go online with them. Most people I know have 2 xbox's, one for online, and one for offline.
