    New xbox 360 downloading

I'm awaiting delivery of the xbox 360 with knect. My question is this, i currently can down load files using dvix via the ps3, will i be able to do the same on xbox? as this is the first consul i will have,i don't know what its capabilities are, i'd like someone to tell me. Thanks for replies.

from what I can tell, the Microsoft has tried to plug it's own products. i believe it can now play back h264 encoded files from windows shares (previously with an update, now most likely shipped standard.) for less mainstream filetypes, you use a windows-based re-encoding on the fly.

however, it is ideally designed to connect to a windows 7 media center as an extender. once connected it will do all the encoding seamlessly, allow tv tuner playback and provide the best user interface.

[my experience is with the unbanned and of course untouched xbox360]

xbox360 can play videos as WMP can: xvid, h264, wmv [i dont test this yet] and of course all in HD (1080p if you have the file in this definition) but you can not load subtitle files, that is the bad point. the media files can be play from a USB device or by LAN [or wireless] but you have to do some configuration for this [I only test in windows].

Now, you can't use xbox360 to download any type of file. But instead, xbox live can sell you, obviously, some media (that don't worth), games, etc for some money

sorry for my bad english and if some one have a question please ask

you can also put your films straight onto a usb pen drive and plug it into xbox usb port and play film from there. but it wont play divx through the dvd drive on disc...
