    i use a heat gun instead though i boutht one at lowes for 20usd works the same make sure its the one that heats up to 1000 deg.. try it out let me know how well it worked for you

      1000 degrees lmao,

      solder melts at 260 degrees, any hotter than 380 and it will fry the whole board.
      good idea to use a thermocouple but you never place the board directly onto a griddle, always have it about 1 inch above it, held up by Bolts, or use a preheater. also never tape the thermocouple to the chip any flexing in its wire will lift or push or twist the chip when the solder melts, better to just bend it into possition and leave it floating. or tape it to the board next to the chip and bend it accross over the top of it.

        any time i resolder a CPU i use heatergun at 360 - 380 and work perfect

          what i was tryig to say was use the wagner heat gun rated for 1000 deg..... i didnt say heat the board to 1000deg sorry for not making it clear all i am doing is trying to help
