Fearing the ban .. (newbie)

Hello guys

Been reading a lot of your posts and must admit im pretty info overloaded and confused.

OK so i got my xbox last year (ring of death killed my last 1 ) around about the time of the last flash ban. But had no internet in the house . Shortly after xmas i got the xbox flashed and have been blattering away playing all the years biggest games from back up ..

NOW HERE'S THE TWIST .

I got the internet into the house 3 weeks ago, and have been gaming on live ever since ..

Halo reach and Pro.. Using sky player etc.

Now heres my question where does this leave me coming up to the new update, as i dont want to loose all my content on the HDD nor the ability to install and run games from it.

Should i just stay off live for a few weeks.??
(im contemplating getting a new box and kinect anyway )

but still would like to be bale to play back ups ..

At the minute my main concern is the xbox i have ..

Basically im pretty cluelless to all this , and have only started reading up on it so apologies for any stupid questions asked .

Also is it possible to tell if i am going to be banned in advance so i at least know to stay off live . and if so how please.?

and 1 last question. Can updates be downloaded and installed from a dvd or flashdrive .?

Up shit creek with a turd for a paddle, just like the rest of us.

No one knows if theres going to be another ban wave, the probability is throught the roof however.

Just gonna have to wait it out with the next update and see whats what like everyone else.

By the looks of things the new kinect dash board is going to kill every flash fw console around as mirosoft seem to have lauched the Ap2.5 check in the dashboard. any one on the new dash that has played a backup has had there xval flaged ie on the black list for a banning so come nov 4th every console will be like this. also fable 3 will not play i the new dash. bad times ahead

When did the new dash update? I aint had it yet.

the latest beta thats out 12606 its a firmware killer and will light your xbox up like guy fawkes if you play a backup on it once live is enable on the new dash it will be one big arse hammer coming down

But i dont know .. Sounds dodgey (I think best to be safe and not update, than take the risk)

You can wait to update at present, but soon games will carry the update.

You can wait for new fw to be released then update to the new fw and play games.

IMO if M$ are releasing this new protection then it means they cannot detect the FW that is LT. Therefore they have released this new check, that wont be in the LT table, so cannot pass the check, and therefore they can flag people for banning. I think this is the last roll of the dice for M$ in detecting fw. FFS it took them 4 years to work it out last time, I doubt they have made leaps and bounds in R&D of FW in the last year. Just my theory, but it fits nicely.
