I have flashed with Nvidia chipsets, Intel P45 chipsets. But what i found is that the VIA is the most reliable and compatable for xbox drives.
If using a VIA just remember to remove drivers when dealing with a liteon. All other drives can be flashed with the drivers insigpic

like above not nesscesary but makes it way easyer a sata card via 6421 is the preferred choice and is about 6-7 quid on ebay make sure its via 6421 as this solves most connection detection problems people have on flashing drive and good luck..Comment

As long as you have a sata port on your moherboard its not necessary.
