    what next?

Ok so I have the ROD in cool blue neon as I changed the LED's
But still its the same crappy error. Now I went out and brought some small screws and plastic washers and changed the x-clips for the new screws and also I have over heated it now with the fan unplugged and wrapped in a towl but I still have the ROD any other suggestions?

Take the x clamp of the GPU and heat the back of the board with a heatgun around the gpu

    Regards

Have a look here at how to do it -

        http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=646900

i know this is for the E74 error but could possible sort your problem out - worth a try

Also, did you remember to re-paste the chips as this is really really important

just also to point out before the xbox did even turn on any more it started to freeze so I restarted it then it worked for like a minute or two and froze again. I turned it off an on again and then nothing on screen just the three lights or ROD so there was never any errors. Dose this mean I have done everything so far in vain?

ok so I have blasted the GPU with the heat gun and yesterday after doing so for like 2-3 mins letting the Xbox kool down and turning it on it worked for like 7 seconds then off again. Once again the three red lights. I repeated the process twice more heating up the back of the GPU and the ANA. But still three red lights any more help guys?

Mate bottom line is that it needs a reflow. Cheaper and easier to buy a new console.

Anyone will tell you that the RROD is notoriously difficult to fix permantley. A reflow with lead solder will solve the problem once and for all. But very few people offer the service, your seriously better off scrapping it, and getting a new console. As even if you do repair the RROD, its unlikely that it will last that long.

I had an E74 error, heatgun'd it, and it lasted 2 days before it went E74 again.

Agreed with janobi, they could last for a month, 2 months, but they are known to be tempory fixes, new console is the best option all round. I have seen adds for reflow services tho

                      lads I need help again
so I brought a new xbox 360 on line. The guy was selling cheap as it freezes sometimes. No problem I think due to the fact that i am now an x-clap fixing master
                      WRONG!!!!
was playing the new console but it started to freeze so me thinks time to change x-clamps for bolts and bingo bango we have a good a new console once again
                      WRONG!!
once i replaced the x-clamps and cleaned the chips i put it all back together now I'm getting three RED lights the same thing as my last console. Unplugged the fan left for 15 mins until only two lights were flashing let it cool plugged all in again and still nothing now this is the second console to die in the same way as the first or am I doing something very wrong here??
Please don't just say buy a new console because i don't believe that is the answer I mean when you look on youtube and see like 1000 videos of people fixing their xbox's and comments saying things like "thanks mine lives again thanks to you" there must be something that I am doing wrong????
Please help guys if you want I can make a small vid of what the hell it is I am doing and upload this to Youtube?

i think you will do the job better if you got a heat gun. you might have the scrows too tight. is the sata port in the drive properly?

well i have a heat gun that I got from my mate and trust me its a well good one very high powered (if set to hight that is) I have used it on the GPU and the CPU on both boards still nothing but I just got the error code from the LED's its 0020 so I saw on youtube that I am to leave it plugged in with the fan on top of the GPU heat sink for about 40 mins then once I get the three lights down to two lights leave it for 15 mins and then turn it back on again and that is meant to fix it well lets put it this way I wont be holding my breath but ill give it a go. One other thing is i am only using nylon washers not metal ones as well but I don't see how these will help so much any way as the heat sinks are screwed in quite tightly as they are but after a kaning with heat gun they seemed to have shrunk a bit so need a quick tighten up after every heat session if you know what I mean?
Well ill start the 40 min overheat now and make a cuppa and see where this goes but as I say both xbox's now have the same issues and its starting to get on me tits
                          wish me luck

i use metal washers only, i put 1 on the screw then put it through the motherboard and put two on the other side. i never use nylon cuz you don't need them.

you can send it to me if you want, i will do it free. you will have to pay to get it here and back tho.

na its kool its been over heating now for 30 mins+
I am going to the hardware shop now to get some washers and give that a go its the only thing that i am doing different. Ill give them a go once again I don't think that they will make much of a difference but you wont know unless you go.
Also my ebay account just emailed me to say I just won another xbox 360 spear and repairs, oh the joy of another heap of shit. I might stack them up with all the LED's flashing with the RROD they will look like a f*cking Christmas tree
