I am looking to purchase a samsung SH-D162 and I can't seem to find them anywhere online. I have heard rumors that they are banned in Canada, does anyone know where I could find one? Thanks!!

You should use 0800fw to rip games, kreon is no longer safe as it will only rip ssv1 files.

Dont think so. Ignore that drive, and get a 360 drive, and flash it with 0800fw.

did what you said, i got a benq drive and flashed it with the 0800 fw but windows dont see it. can i still use it in the via sata card?

Yes you would need to connect it via sata for the PC to see it.

Sorry to jump in on your thread mate, dont wantto start another one.

"janobi" you say get an xbox drive, i currently have a goosed xbox rrod that i cant fix as i think the previous owner has tried the towel trick. (fix a canny few before by removing xclamps etc)

How do i go about using the xbox drive (samsung ts-h943), changing the firmware and using it in my pc without the use of the xbox to power it?

Also i have updated both of my dvd writers and they still fail at 50%, what would be the best dvd writer to buy (cheap but good- average)

Yes that drive should be fine. Install 0800fw and it should rip perfectly.

With regards to writer, pioneer are the best around. Roughly ?15 for an oem drive.

Why are you looking for a samsung SH-D162? You can buy other brands and products. Is there a special reason for SH-D162 product?

These drives can be flashed to kreon fw and used to rip games for the xbox, however this is the old method, the prefered method is 0800 from a flashed xbox drive that will give you SSv2

Thanks for explanation. I have a Samsung SH-D162 drive, if anybody wants to buy it, PM me quickly because I am about to sell my computer which has that drive.
