    Big Brother Is Watching ?

    Hi Fellas,

    I took my flashed xbox that has never been online to my parents this weekend and was playing various games on including ap2.5 as the dash had been updated, anyway i thought what would happen if i plugged the tinternet in, so i did and i tried to connect to xbox live, it said i needed to do an update and would restart immediately after, so off it went but on restart 3 red lights, is this a coincidence or has it rendered my xbox useless because i have a modded drive ?

    cheers

    i think the 2 things are not related , just coincidace that this happened , do you get an error message on screen ? E71 anything like that ?

    if you do google the error code and find out what is wrong , allso im sure there is a button press you can do that will roll back the updates ( not including the kernel update)

            OMG

            Yes I know about the video lead thanks, i have just got it home and stripped it down done a solder reflow and reseated both heatsinks but to no avail, when i switch on i just hear the dvd drive rattle for a couple of seconds and get 1 green light in the middle (non going round the outside) and then after a very long 35 seconds every time i get 3 red lights, i am convinced that the update i received has done this, anybody with any input please post....

            thanks

              Nothing to do with the update. The box has just RROD'd when you done it. Try fixing it again. I have done a few in the past some come back first time others have to be tinkered with.

              Sound like it could be going towards E74 error but each box is fixable.

              Think he means when you got RROD hold SYNC button and press EJECT. You will get diffent light flashes. Do it 4 times and search for the code online.

              * All four lights flashing - 0
              * One light flashing - 1
              * Two Lights flashing - 2
              * Three lights flashing - 3

                  It depends on how warped the board is & if you're going to add more cooling.

                  I've fixed a lot of xbox 360's & most will last 6 months to 1 year without any problems. Mine was fixed 2 years ago & still going strong, but it has been bastardised....

                  There are more pics in my profile if you feel the need to play.

                    All of them can be fixed. If they have been tampered with before sometimes its a different case.

                    But i have found any untampered have been fine.
                    Theres is no indidcation on how long they will last with a proper reflow but the cheap fix has 90% worked for me. Although i have had a few duds.

                    Hit or a miss. I think the E74 has to be one of the easiest to fix.

                      I'll second that. If it's a virgin machine with it's seal intact the odds are a lot higher for a good fix.

                      If it's been fixed, or someone attempted to fix it, then it gets a little more hairy.
