help please

hi i fixed an xbox 360 for my mate a disk was stuck in the drive and since then the xbox will play dvd films and wont run games is there any way of fixing this or is it nackered if so can i just buy a spare drive and bang it in some one said i need to get a code number for to do this and help apreciated cheers danny

If its the original drive mate, you can dump it and replace it. Its not as simple as just swapping the drive though sadly. You will need to get the key from original drive, and inject into the new drive.

Two things to try before replacing the drive.....

1. Lower the resistance on the power supply to the laser. If it's a liteon or Benq read this. You will need a multimeter & a screwdriver once you have the xbox & DVD drive open.

if this doesn't work...

2. Replace the laser. You can pickup most lasers off ebay & they're not that difficult to replace. With the xbox case open there are 4 screws to open the drive, 4 more screws to move the guide rails for the laser. You will need a soldering iron to remove the anti-static tab.
