    !!open drive fix!!

i fixed two of these today! all i did was open all the xbox up and the dvd rom drive. then i got some acetone and cleaned the laser and then dryed it.

put it together again and try the game.

the reason i think the laser cant read disks is cuz the games you play are dirty and rubs on to the laser.

please give a try befor you buy a new drive.

please thank if i helped you!

warning, make sure you never press to hard or you will ~~~~ things up.

once is enough, acetone dissolves plastics. Isopropyl doesn't and gives similar results, your only looking to degrease the lend and surrounding parts, not remove material. acetone is like taking wire wool to the thing.

Care should also be taken when using DAE Brake & Carb Cleaner. I use this to clean the chips & heatsinks when fixing RROD. It disolves the plastic case

what about nail polish remover? it was my brothers xboxes and he told me to use that.

i used nail polish remover on the old xbox and it worked good.

Nail varnish remover is primarily acetone.

Acetone and benzine are fairly nasty solvents, the solvent evaporates leaving a scummy residue too, which is pretty bad.

                Just stick with isopropyl.
