Please help Xbox360 disc drive not reading games

my son's xbox disc drive has given up and i've got 3 xbox's with RROD that won't repair anymore so i've tried to put disc drives out of all 3 of them in the working xbox but will only see games as DVD's.All the drves are different modles and makes. i read something about spoofing??? not really sure what his means and i'm not tec guy and after already paying over 150 on repairs for xbox and now out of work i aint paying out no money. hope some1 can help me

You will need to read the firmware off the broken drive and spoof it over to another drive

Back to basics.... Each DVD drive is paired to it's xbox via a code. Spoofing is the art of copying this code onto another DVD drive.

It is likely to cost you money to get the hardware needed to spoof the drive. Not sure on price, it cost me about ?10 for a PCI card with external Sata ports.

You could try adjusting the resistance on the laser power, but you will need a multimeter to do this. This is also only a temporary solution, if it even works.

Usually the cheapest option is to replace the laser in the original DVD drive. Depending on which one you need it will be between ?6 & ?11 for a new laser. Fitting is quite easy but a soldering iron is needed to remove the anti-static point before installing.

you could just get the exact same drive and swop the circuit board inside the drive if you not confident with flashing
