Thought id start a thread where we can tell about ours or other pc ~~~~ups.. put them in here, and through sharing we will be able to overcome the bad memories .
ill start with one ive already told the sb lads.

my very first pc fix was when a mate asked me about 1997 or 98 to upgrade his 75mhz cpu to a 90mhz.
I was feeling all clever and that so i said yeah sure thing.
i took out the old cpu and after taking off the heatsink with a butter knife, i noticed a thin film of what i thought was some sort of glue (i now know it to be thermal compound).. i put new cpu in and stuck the heatsink back on with superglue....

My ~~~~ up was accepting a 'Send Receipt' when opening a works email, and it defaulting to send receipt all the time.
A few months later I got a late email Friday telling me where to go work the Saturday night...
I decided to ignore it and told the bosses I never got to read the email until Sunday ...
Busted.... ~~~~ing send receipt had clocked me!

another one..not my ~~~~ up this time...

a different mate asked me to 'wipe his pc memory'. i took it that he meant re-format. i said id do it that weekend.
i turned up on the sunday with me windows 98 cd in hand and he said he couldnt wait and was in middle of doing it.
I followed him into lounge and pc was on the floor open..this coont was running a ~~~~ing fridge magnet over the stick of ram!!

installing me first ever motherboard, i lined up the rear sockets with the motherboard an i needed to apply pressure to get the screw holes to line up, so what did i push? it wasn't the motherboard, it was the heatsink, i then heard a loud crack. The heatsink had dislodged and was now very loose. I continued anyway and my computer would start up, but then crash after abou 3 mins

got hooked , and cost me a fooooking fortune in upgrades and new builds anf ~~~~ ups ever since

Where should I start?.....

My first PC ~~~~ up was with windows 95. Only had it a month or so when I found the Fonts folder in the windows directory. Being the idiot I sometimes am..... I dragged & dropped the fonts folder into the MS Office folder. Wow! loads of fonts to use now. Until I next rebooted... Windows failed to boot as it had no fonts to use.. D'oh!

Then to make matters worse, instead of entering DOS & copying the folder back to the windows directory (I was studying computer science at the time as well).. I just had a crash course in formatting & reinstalling windows. Came in useful later, bloody virus'!


The biggest ~~~~ up ever.... Windows Vista.. Well done microsoft


There was the time I formatted the wrong HDD & wiped all of my documents (~~~~) off the computer. I cried for weeks


Although not PC related, my very first Iphone repair.....
Front digitizer on the original 2G shite... Didn't have any tape strong enough to hold it in place & this was before the 3M stuff was available to buy.
My solution.... Epoxy resin. The owner wasn't to pleased when he picked it up

Every time I switch on my laptop it keeps nagging (Failed to load kernel library) I have cleaned the heat sink, replaced a new fan, changed memories and no joy it will not say the error when cold, it will only start nagging when switched on from hot, any suggestion mates thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
