Best Way to convert .ts recordings to avi?

I've tried xilisoft HD video converter and it took 7 hours to convert a 2 hour hd recording to avi!!! Are there any programs that do it faster?

Why would you want to convert it anyway? As a .ts file it is the original transmission quality with no loss, anything you do from there reduces that. If you just rename it to .mpg most things will handle it as it is.

It's a different story if you are trying to make them smaller, in that case you have to convert, can't help you with that.

i recommend womble mpeg video wizard dvd 5, i dont think you will find anything better or faster.

i use this program the other way round to convert avi files to .ts dreambox format so that i can stream and play on a dm500 without needing vlc.

to the above you could also convert to mpeg format and your dreambox can play it just the same.

yes just noting that any other video format could be converted to mpeg and then viewed on your dreambox
