    rase downstream power level

    hi all

my virgin modem downstream power level has dropped a bit the past few weeks currently at around -5.5 on the 50Mb

is it possible to buy a attenuator that or something that could bring it back closer to 0

    my upstream is about 41

nope, attenuators remove Db, take shouting for instance, to attenuate a shout you place your hand over your mouth cutting the effective volume.

To increase gain get better cabling, higher quality and better shielding will stop crosstalk and bleed.
Connectors and terminal gear are also important as there's no real shielding on these that's where most interference and signal drop occur, especialy if connectors are different materials, then you wind up with impedance mismatch which also degrades a signal.

Other than this all you can do is ask Virgin to ramp up the signal by pushing more from the cab.
He who laughs last thinks slowest.

The signal should be as close as posible to -6db.. -5.5 is ideal..

Soooooo, Check all your connections.. make sure theyre tight... check the omni box outside..

Other than that.. contact vm for an engineer.. get that signal tweaked.

Oh, and what the modem says about the signal isnt always correct.dont take it as gospel.

Sorry i read it as 5.5 was your power level.. in that case.. needs engineer.
