Sounds like a virus on their end. If it?s not got a subject when you receive it it?s probably a virus.

get your mate to change his password asap... he may have fallen foul to a fake log-in page and his account being used to send out spam... happened to one of my mates before... change of password sorted it... no virus... but obv get him to run a scan to be sure.

I wouldnt think the email is from your friends, but it is attaching your friends name to it in some way. I may be wrong, but I did read something about this somewhere (or did I dream it).
I am sure There is a way to see where the email came from, not sure now, ip whatever.
If you are getting mail from MORE than just one friend, there is more chance the virus is your end.
What sites you signed up for lately? Get scanning too, Malware anti bytes, and the like.

I would run em both (scan computer), one after the other in safe mode, after updating database of course. Will probably take hours.
Mine took about 6 hours, but I did have a lot of ..err, sheep forum stuff on there.

To see where it might have come from you would need to look at the headers. Most likely it's come from someone who has your email address in their address book, and so it goes on. Your friend, or someone who has both yours and your friends email addresses in their address book may have a virus that's generating them.

The header information on the email will give you some indication by IP's and name lookups where it came from. Chances are the senders email address is a forgery and did not come through the domain it implies.

Ok lads, I scanned the ~~~~ out of my lappy. First I used malware bytes ( updated ver.) and I got 0 infections, then I ran SUPERanti spyware and got 652 Adware. tracking cookies ( is this a lot and are they harmful ), then just for good measure I ran AVG and it foun 1 corrupted file and also, I know now why my display driver keeps crashing but recovers on start up, the driver is signed with a broken digital signature. Now plz don't think for a min that I know what I'm saying, cause I don't .

1/ is this a lot of tracking cookies ?
                          2/ digital signature... wtf ?
3/ @ maca, should I still change my email psswd, looking at the results.
