      I dont know much about the actual programs used for the streaming, im sure it wont be too hard to get a computer to allow a TCP stream from something like VLC, infact that uses most feeds, so any old camera should work.

      you might not realise, but you will likely need some hefety internet connection to allow the streaming to work correctly.
      for example:
      take youtube, which uses flv streaming which is already compressed, their lowest bitrate is 240p, which equates to about 260kbs.

      260kbps == 32.5 K per second
      This in the modern day is a very low figure, and most internet connections can download at a figure far above this, however in upload terms, things are different.

      Most home internet connections will upload at between 512kbs and 2048kps.

      In order to serve at this bitrate, you could theoretically only serve 63 people, which is some way from a few hundred, and only if you are lucky enough to have 2048k upload..
      (and this is on a 240p video stream, which is crap quality.., most standard youtube streams are 360p)

      I would imagine there might be proxy type sites which act as a go between, to allow a much greater number of viewers to watch a video, although i would imagine you would need to pay for that.
