All the big newsgroups comply with the DMCA take down requests, so are operating within the law. For those in the know, its not to much of an issue.
newzbin came back with 'stolen' code and lost a large chunk of the database. I know their main issue was all their posts were being categorised by humans and not automated as others are. I believe the new site does not use editors any more ? TBH never revisited the new site to check. I was worried that they had teh credit card details.

Newzbin still has editors, and yes it is still trying to recuperate the data, but it is handy for the comments and it does have the odd article here and there that the others dont.
I used them as soon as they came back on, and they never held credit card details as you pay a 3rd party payment company and not newzbin.

Are they asking for trouble again ? They seem to be more near the underground this time round so maybe they think they are safe.

Nah, now they are well underground, the ip address is hidden behind Tor and its very hard to join if you are not a member.

I think I did read on the matrix form that they are now the indexing sites with the most users. I think at peak newzbin got up to around the 120,000 paying members. Even at 25p per week (if you bought in the 1/2 price offer) thats ?30k a week income. I think the editors didn't get paid, there were 4 owners and 3 developers on the books.

                    I will cast similar vote:

nxbmatrix vip member for a fiver
astraweb unlimited dsl for 13 usd a month
sabnzbd for putting it all together.

Oh and you must have a cable BB provider.

binsearch is OK but you need to do a lot of manual filtering sometimes. And it only seems to cover the popular groups.

I am very happy with rapidshare. Now that it's practically unlimited made me forget about moving to another hosting service
