Which multifunction printer with function live printing on CD / DVD?

Hi, I need to buy a multifunction printer with the ability to print on CD / DVD discs. My choice fell on two printers:
Epson Stylus Photo PX720WD
and
Canon PIXMA MG5250
Which one do you advise me to choose? Maybe not those one, if so, what printer should I buy? I lookind for a printer which will work for while whithout any problems, and print good and cheap. Is it safe to use with those printers compatible/refillable ebay cartriges or CISS system?

I have used Canon printers for years , tried others but Canon are the best . Useing the MG5250 now and so far had no problems. Ink can be expensive but the compatible chipped cartriges are the way to go.

How many discs do you need to produce?
If you're doing more than a very small handful at a time, you may be better going to a disc duplicator. Probably cheaper too by the time you've bought the printer, CD-Rs, inks etc.
Try Alpha Duplication, they use screen or litho printing so you'll get a much better & lasting finish than the inkjet printer, which tend to bleed a bit. They'll do small quantities (50+) or just get them to print up a batch of DVDs or CDs that you can duplicate yourself.

No I won't be printing many of them, probably 10-15 a week, but I need printer and scanner as well, so multifunction machine will be the best solution for me. Those two models Epson PX720WD and Canon MG5250 are quite new printers on the market so I can't find to many opinions about them. I like them both, and both of them can print on CD/DVD. So it's so hard to decide which one will be better, which will give me less troubles, and which one will print better and cheaper.
Is it safe to use them with compatybile cartriges or CISS system, or better stick with orginal cartriges?

If you look on Amazon.co.uk for the Canon MG5250 then you will find lots of reviews for this printer, compatible ink cartriges are also there .

Thanks tigger001, you were right, there is a lots of reviews and people opinions. I ordered Canon MG5250- hope I did right thing . Epson turned me off because people complained about waste pads, paper jamed, and few other small things.

Glad I could help . Just make sure you use the Chipped Compatible Cartriges as the non chipped ones do not work.

Some people says that cheap compatible cartridges will damage printer(ink will dry inside printing head), and recommend use only orginal cartriges, other people says it's ok to use compatible cartridges but only from trusted places, because most cheap cartridges thats only colored water. So what is the true, and where is good place to buy compatible cartridges?

I've been using compatible cartridges for over 10 years without any problems through 8 different printers, both Epson and Canon. The only problem came when I tried to use a CISS with my current Canon, it just wouldnt pul the ink through, but I have a chip resetter and use non-chipped carts which cost me less than 50p each from Ink.co.uk

For your printer Non-chipped carts are ?1.07 for the large black and ?0.97 for the colours the chip resetter is ?14.27 (but it pays for itself in the end).

Ok, so how this is work?When I buy non-chipped cartridge do I have to remove chip from my orginal cartrige and install it on the compatible cartridge, and then use resetter to reset used chip? And what the story whit chipped cartridges do they work straight away or do I have to use resetter as well? Can I refill compatible cartridges or is better to buy full compatible cartriges?

I use chipped compatible cartriges from Rite Inks, Compatible Epson, Canon, Brother, HP & Ink Cartridges
as i can't be bothered with all that chip swaping with non chipped ones.
Just have to put them in the printer and they work straight away. No need to use a resetter.
As for refilling them your self ; I have no idea as I have never done it.
