      Depends on your connection and where you download from. I can grab a 4.5GB DVD rip in 15 minutes. Much quicker then transferring to DVD from VHS.

      If you can post your recorder details then people might be able to offer more specific suggestions.

      Another option is to convert directly to your PC. A USB analogue to digital converter can be had from as low as a fiver. This will allow you to connect your VHS player to a laptop or desktop and there are no time limits on the recording. You can then burn to DVD if you need to from your PC.

        thanks for the advice everyone,i'll try some dual layer discs is 4x8.5gb the important part? i'll think about the downloading/transferring to my laptop also but i have stuff on vhs that i'm sure you wont be able to download online like the bbc tv show the season which was only shown once or twice in the mid 90's that i did an interview for at newmarket races and they used it to end the show straight after henry cecil.
