Canon MP600 Empty/Unrecognised Sim Black Ink

My slim black ink cartridge ran done and Ive tried replacing it with a new one. The new one did not have a chip and I tried swapping over the old chip but no joy. Going to get new ink cartridges with chips.

Surely I can still print with the fat black ink cartridge and the three colours, is there any way to ignore the empty/unrecognised slim black cartridge??

Any advice, cant print anything without the slim black ink. I have a full cartridge but no chip, Ive tried using a chip from another magneta cartridge but it doesnt work.

Are the black and magneta chips different from each other.
