    desktop showing on laptop...

Hi people, strange thing here, I use a crappy laptop (windows vista) and my good wife uses a desktop PC (windows 7).
She uses Ebay all the time but when she has been searching for anything on her PC, if I go on my laptop and go on Ebay, I can see what she has been searching for on Ebay recently without even logging onto Ebay. It doesnt matter for me and the good wife but she is bothered about the kids doing the same nearer xmas and finding out what they are gonna get !!!

Is there a way to stop this interaction between pc and laptop???

    thanks guys and gals

I'm no expert but it seems like both are connected through 'remote desktop connection'
Click on start click on all programs go to accessories and in the drop down box you should see remote desktop connection click on it and read what it says if one is connected to the other. You might have to do this on both to find out but what you do thereafter I cannot advise. I'm basing this on xp but menus should be similar.

Do you see the screen of the desktop or the searches are showing up when you use ebay on your laptop.

If you use the same ebay account on both machines then ebay displays your last searches regardless of where you sign on.

Thanks Pat, tried that on both and neither is connected to the other (or anything else ) so dont think its that. Thank you anyway it was worth a try ;-)

Oneman.......its my laptop that picks up what my wife has been searching for on Ebay when I go on Ebay, although i dont sign in, its just Ebay homepage, on the left hand side (recently searched for items and pictures). Yes my wife does use my laptop for ebay very occasionally but i can see the pictures without signing in. As far as i know it doesnt work the other way round (my laptop ebay searches showing up on wifes PC doesnt happen) so cant get my head round it.

        Thanks for anymore advice, cheers

It stored cookies on your PC when you wife has signed in so it remembers your past searches. If you clear the cookies on your PC that should fix the issue.

Ideally you want to create separate logon for yourself and your mrs, that way all settings will be kept seperate.

The thing is oneman, its not past searches that my laptop shows.....if me and the wife are in the same room (we normally are anyway) and she's on Ebay and i'm on here, she can search for....a handbag for e.g, if I then go onto the ebay homepage 10 seconds later and i can see the exact ebay item she has just searched for and looked at, so its not past searches its bang up to date, thats why we want to stop it before she starts xmas shopping, cus if the kids use the laptop they will see what they gonna get

Thanks for your help so far,

Interesting, I am wondering if they are tracking the ads and searches via IP address. I know google used to do that.
