    Cloning a hard drive

    Hi,
Is it possible to duplicate a hard drive? If so, how do you do it?

Basically I have a program on my PC [truckcom] but Toyota will only install it for you on a PC supplied by them (so you don't know the licence key, and obviously sell it on). But was wondering if I could duplicate the hard drive, and replicate it on my personal PC because it is much faster and has the rest of my automotive programs on. Therefore it would be ideal if I could get them all on the same one.

    Thanks,
    Lee

First question, will the application even boot up with the original hard drive in another computer. Its quite possible for them to tie the activation of the software to the hardware. its what microsoft do with windows.

If it does work then you can use a program such as acronis to clone the drive.

      Didn't think of that.

Might try it on a spare computer first, then if it fails I can just reinstall windows.

I use Acronis True Image Home 2011, the best yet IMO.
