Macbook pro with windows 7 and xp vmware

I have a macbook pro and want to install a windows os partition. Know how to do this easily. I want windows 7 but need to run a program called peugeot planet that does car diagnostics, it will not work with windows 7 nor will it work with xp mode in windows 7.

Can someone give me a guide on how to do vmare xp on my windows 7 partition on my macbook pro and if it will work ok.

Just a suggestion but if you have not already paid for vmware then i would suggest you download and install VirtualBox for either OsX or your Windows 7 as it is supported on both platforms. It is free and supports both USB and Serial ports.
To install XP in it just tell the software to use the real DVD drive as the virtual machines drive and install XP within the virtual machine as you normally would in a real machine.
There is a wizard for creating virtual machines in VirtualBox.
