At a loss need some help please

i use a couple of websites that i get torrents from.. they have been working well etc etc.. since i updated to firefox 5.0 i cannot access them, however i cannot access them from win explorer either. i am with virmin and have broadband.
i have connected directly to modem = no joy
checked iwf and the sites are not on virmin filters.
i have paused kaspersky = no joy
called vm customer service = shocking and wasteful
i have done a trace on cmd and i get one hop then it "times out"
i have however accessed the site from my mobile when i go over 3g rather than wifi..

whats going on what am i missing?? i am running windows 7 if that helps..
please if anyone has the anwsers i need please please please help me out..
    Thanks in advance
